Private garden in Anavyssos, East Attica region

The approx. 1.200 sq.m. plot in Aeolos, East Attica region is located right by the sea facing a fantastic sunset over on Saronic Gulf. The two existing summer houses joined with a canopy were originally built in the early 80’s. An existing swimming pool was originally placed in front of one of the houses. The idea was to open up the garden, to enjoy open views and to separate the two houses operation-wise without losing access to the common swimming pool. Another aim was to find a way to hide the car parking without disturbing the garden. The proposal was to fully demolish the existing pool and practically relocate it right in the middle of the property. The old pergola with its numerous wooden posts would have to be replaced with a new one avoiding any posts at all unblocking the view. In this way, the space in-between the two buildings would look like an open platform overlooking the sunset. The style would be a mix of Tuscunny italian and Greek traditional. Light earth colour tones and rough textures were chosen to all materials used – planting was design to block the unwanted views, create enclosed shelter type sub-areas and create a sequence of textures.
